چکیده
This paper presents an overview of the DMT and of its design applications, in the light of the experience accumulated over the last 20 years. The following applications are discussed: determining common soil parameters, predicting settlements of shallow foundations, compaction control, detecting slip surfaces in clay slopes, predicting the behavior of laterally loaded piles, evaluating sand liquefiability, estimating consolidation/flow coefficients, selecting soil parameters for FEM analyses. The basic differences of the DMT compared to other penetration tests are also discussed. Preprint : IN SITU 2001, Intnl. Conf. On In situ Measurement of Soil Properties, Bali, Indonesia, May 2001

Estimating of geotechnical properties of clay soil with dynamic cone penetration (DCP) test
Dynamic cone penetration (DCP) test is used more in pavement design and construction, and less for subsurface geotechnical investigation and clay core dam. In the present article, evaluating geotechnical parameters of Sanandaj’s clay in the western region of Iran using the DCP test was taken into account. Accordingly, 6 trial pits with maximum depths of 15 m were excavated manually in various s...
متن کاملEstimating the Maximum Shear Modulus with Neural Networks
Small strain shear modulus is one of the most important geotechnical parameters to characterize soil stiffness. In-situ stiffness of soils and rocks is much higher than was previously thought as finite element analysis have shown. Also, the stress-strain behaviour of those materials is non-linear in most cases with small strain levels. The commun approach for getting the small strain shear modu...
متن کاملMaximum Shear Modulus Prediction by Marchetti Dilatometer Test Using Neural Networks
The use of Neural Networks for modeling systems has been widespread, in particular within areas where the great amount of available data and the complexity of the systems keeps the problem very unfriendly to treat following traditional data analysis methodologies. In the last two decades, small strain shear modulus became one of the most important geotechnical parameters to characterize soil st...
متن کاملApplication of Benford’s Law in Analyzing Geotechnical Data
Benford’s law predicts the frequency of the first digit of numbers met in a wide range of naturally occurring phenomena. In data sets, following Benford’s law, numbers are started with a small leading digit more often than those with a large leading digit. This law can be used as a tool for detecting fraud and abnormally in the number sets and any fabricated number sets. This can be used as an ...
متن کاملevaluation of rock mass deformability
One of the most important effective parameters in design of engineering structures is deformability of rock mass. Benchmark of rock mass deformability is the deformation modulus that directly or indirectly obtained. Since the determination of rock mass deformation modulus indirect method by in-situ tests is time-consuming, costly and difficult from executive operations aspect, so it’s correctly...
